Juveniles are the middle road. They are past the gosling stage, off supplemental heat and fully feathered, with the curl already showing. That makes them far hardier to move than a day-old, and they need none of the brooder work.

The awkward truth about goslings is that the first three weeks are the work. A juvenile has already been through that here. What you get is a bird that can go straight out onto grass with shelter, and one where you can already see what the feathering is doing rather than hoping.

Curl develops as the bird grows, so a juvenile is the earliest point at which you can judge feather quality honestly. It is also the earliest point at which a bird can be sexed with any confidence, though it is not exact. The sexing guide covers how it is actually done.
